"Living LIFE with Direction"
We tend to wander around often in life and through life. To wander is to indicate lack OF direction or the need FOR direction.
You’ve heard the term, “an aimless wanderer OR to wander aimlessly”, right? Aimlessly means without purpose or direction. Wandering means to walk or to move. So put the two together and you are moving or walking around without purpose and/or zero direction to your steps.
To wander in such a manor is a dangerous place to be. It is a voluntary place, meaning you decided to be in that state. To be lost in direction is one thing. How so? Because if you are lost you are at least moving IN A DIRECTION, you are simply moving in the wrong direction, which is easily corrected. For a person wandering aimlessly reveals this, that they do not care for any direction be it wrong or right.
The Bible is very pronounced in revealing the vitality for direction in a life:
Psalms 32:8-9, “ I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go: I will guide thee...”
Psalms 23:3, “…He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for His name’s sake…”
Isaiah 48:17, “…I am the Lord thy God…which leadeth thee by the way that thou shouldest go…”
James 1:5-6, “IF any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God...”
The Bible tells us there are only two directions a person can choose to take, there is no in-between (mumbo jumbo). That is why there is a Heaven and a Hell. There is no sort of Heaven or sort of Hell. You either have a Sinner or you have a Christian – titles that differentiate (ex. like hot or cold. ex. sweet or sour).
The Bible addresses this very topic and informs that a direct decision must be made – Revelation 3:15-16, “ I know thy works, that thou are neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold OR hot. So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth.”
It is a CHOICE made to allow and have direction in our lives – Salvation with purpose.
Matthew 6:24, “No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other…” AGAIN, a CHOICE is set before us to choose who and what will LEAD us in “a direction”.
Where do you stand?
Are you finding yourself wandering around aimlessly? Thinking to yourself where am I going in this life?
Maybe you are a Christian and you’ve allowed things to creep into your life little by little as a result of small choices made here and there. Now, you find yourself wandering around aimlessly full of so much uncertainty and bewilderment on how you even ended up in this condition.
OR
Maybe you are not saved, maybe you have not had that personal salvation experience. You have come to the realization and find yourself wandering around aimlessly in life attempting to find some kind of direction. You’ve been looking in all sorts of areas (work, hobbies, sports, relationships, your family, in and out of church groups etc... Maybe you have turned to drugs and alcohol to try and find some sort of happiness while in this condition). You are seeking but unsure of where or how to seek OR even what you are seeking for specifically.
Let me provide you with an answer to finding direction and a road map to go with it.
Proverbs 3:5-6, Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thine ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct thy path.”
Bringing it home. Time to make a decision for direction. It is a difficult place to be when you come to that realization that you feel like you are basically in limbo mode in life – no direction at all to be found. In order to find direction the keys I have discovered are: 1. removing myself out of my own way 2. Placing God back at the center of what I call “my world” 3. Identifying the choices made that created the obstacles now present in my life that hold me at bay and 4. Repentance of all that has brought me to this point.
2 Chronicles 7:14, “IF my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.”
Joshua 24:15, “And if it seem evil unto you to serve the Lord, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.”
I need direction in my life. I HAVE to have meaning/purpose. I was not designed nor was I created to be an aimless wandering soul. To each life there is a purpose. To each life that finds Christ this simply begins that directed journey in finding what that purpose is. “…I will never leave thee nor forsake thee…” Christ promised this.
Psalms 37:23, “The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord: and he delighted in his way.”
“…and he delighted in his way…” When Christ is the director of my path it is THEN that I become happy and satisfied with my direction. Peace that passes all understanding becomes my companion and faith becomes my motivation.
